Where do I begin?

Wow, it's been quite a while since I've updated this blog. Much has happened since my last post.

To go back in time a little, we celebrated Nehemiah turning 1 back in July (29th). Since he shares his birthday with his older cousin Olivia, we had a joint birthday party up in Beaverton at a nice park with most of the family.

The BIG news is that we moved to Newport, Oregon in September. God began moving in our hearts and circumstances and confirmed through many different things that Newport is where He wants us to be. There are SO many details to this story and it's so nice to know that God is in it all.. directing us and showing us His perfect will.

Luke is now pastoring South Beach Church (www.southbeachchurch.org) along with some other really great men who love God. We are so blessed to be apart of this fellowship and are excited to see God working and drawing people unto Himself.

In the midst of all this (and prior to knowing we were going to move) we were blessed with the possibility to buy a house. For those of you who know us, this is not something we would have EVER sought out. We are now in the process of building a house here on the coast (being that it is MUCH cheaper than buying a home). A big bonus is that our friends (The Townsends) who also moved here from Ashland will be building right next door to us! Here is a pic of the property.

Another big announcement is that we will be expecting our third child in May of 2011! I was pretty shocked at first being that they are all so close in age. But I am excited to have another little baby Frechette and am constantly being reminded to enjoy these special years.

We are humbled and blessed by God's abundant provision and direction in our lives and pray that all of these blessings would bring glory to Him.

Oregon Coast

Luke turned 32 on the 13th! Wow... I used to think that sounded SO old! :) Since we married at a young age we've been able to see each other grow and go through a lot of things and I must say as Luke ages he gets better and better! It's like the scripture says... "we are being transformed from glory to glory"~ 2Corinthians 3:18.

It's been a while

I haven't been too good at keeping up on this blog. I'm going to try and keep up on it, key word "try".
The Frechette's are doing well, by Gods sweet grace. Noah is such a fun two year old, learning so many new things each day... I understand now when parents call their kids sponges. It's so fun to see life through his eyes.... the wonder and awe of everything. I often think about how Jesus said that we are to receive his kingdom as "little children" (Mark 10:15). Raising Noah puts feet to that verse for me.
Nehemiah is getting so big! He is learning to get around by rolling all over the place.
I'm loving watching the boys start to really love each other. Nemo has always been fascinated with Noah, but Noah is finally loving him back. :)
I'm getting excited for the warmer weather so we can get outside and enjoy the nearby parks and such. As of now, we just hang out a lot at home during the days as the boys are on differing nap schedules... it's just a season, I know. :)

For Thanksgiving this year we stayed home and made dinner at our house. Our friends the Banks came over with their two boys and some of the fixings. We had a good time and I managed to snap just a couple pics.

I can't believe my little man is already 2! We had a fun time as a family celebrating with balloons and cake. Technically, this was his 3rd time celebrating so we just hung out and made fun things out of those long skinny balloons. I think the best thing we could come up with was a sword (Luke's idea of course). 2 goes by so fast!!!!

Sunriver trip

So last weekend we took a trip to Sunriver to spend the weekend with Luke's family for an early Thanksgiving and Christmas celebration. We also were able to see my brother and his growing family. I Turned 28 this year in August and this is what my wonderful husband got for me! Well actually he just put a picture of it in my birthday card and we saved my birthday money till we had enough so I still haven't actually received it yet. But I am so excited to have a bike! The last one I had was about 7 years ago and it was given to be by my mom, only to be stolen shortly thereafter. And this bike is out of this world comfortable! Thanks honey!!

.... ALL the family that comes to visit!!
While we were still in the hospital we had a visit from Luke's mom Arla, his aunt Janet and uncle Mark, and his grandma Val! The special thing about this was that Janet and Mark live in Minnesota, grandma Val lives in North Dakota, and momma Arla lives 4 hours away in Newport. They had their trip all planned and it worked out perfectly to come when they did because they were able to meet 1 day old Nehemiah.

After Luke's two weeks off, my mom took a week off and came to help out. Such a blessing that was. Her and Noah had a great time going on walks, to the park, swimming outside in his pool. I'm pretty sure that after that week he had like ten new toys. One night her and Walt showed up with a bunch of Chinese Food for dinner. We took this pic which I think is a keeper!

Later in August (on my birthday to be exact) we got a visit from Auntie Erin and cousins Olivia and Mallory. They are always such fun to have around and Noah especially loved playing with his cousins.

My Aunt Cindy and Uncle Arlin came down a few days after that to go to the Britt Festival, but they came to Ashland one day for lunch and to see the new baby. It was great seeing them even for a little bit!

On labor day weekend we had a visit from papa Joe & grandma Arla (Luke's parents). It's always good to see them and we always wish that they lived closer so we could see them more often.

First few weeks

Here's a few pics from the first few weeks after Nehemiah was born. I was so extremely blessed that Luke was able to take two weeks off! During that time he had a lot of bonding time with Noah, and of course was a wonderful support for me.
Noah had a hard time for a little while once the baby was here. He didn't have much of an appetite for a week or so. Lots of adjusting to do for such a little man! But despite that, he has been super sweet to his baby brother from the beginning. I'm sure in no time they will be the best of friends!

Not that I'm a great blogger or anything... it's just fun to keep friends and family up on what's happening with us. The wait is over! Nehemiah Lucas Frechette arrived on Wednesday July 29th at 10:20pm, weighing 8lbs 8oz, 20 inches long and a 15 inch head! Early labor started Tuesday morning at 6 am and lasted all day, although it was pretty sporadic. Then we were up all night have contractions anywhere from 6 to 15 minutes apart. Wednesday morning rolls around and the contractions just stop, so we went into the doctors to have her stir things up once again and she said I was anywhere from 4 to 5 cm. At this point I had a decision to make: do I want to go through another sleepless night of having contractions and then not be geared up for real labor, or do I want to have my dr. break my water and really get things going while I have some energy left? We prayerfully decided on the latter and so at 3:30pm we headed to the hospital. Jani broke my water at 4:30 and then contractions started coming every 4 minutes, progressing all the way until our little guy was born. I had him in the birthing tub, which was a great experience. Jani (my dr.) let me pull him out after his head and shoulders were delivered... so sweet! This time around our doula Allison was able to be there and she was an awesome support to Luke and I. As I look back on the whole experience I remember crying out to the Lord quite a few times (especially during transition). Truly He is our help in time of trouble :). What a glorious outcome all that pain brought!

The Children's Festival

We went on a quick outing last night to take Noah to the Children's Festival at the Britt Gardens in Jacksonville. Most of the booths there were for older kids but he did enjoy a few things, like watching the violinists perform, and the karate kids, going through a cool maze, and of course the bubbles! I remember going to this when I was really young and making those cool macaroni necklaces. Next year he'll be able to participate in a lot more. Here are a few pics.

This year we were home for the 4th so we headed downtown for the annual parade. It was Noah's first parade and he loved it, especially the horses and the tractor and the marching bands. In fact this morning he woke up and is still talking about the horses (in his own way). Before Noah went to bed we did a couple little fireworks for him and he was in awe!

I have about 5 weeks left till the baby is due! Hard to believe and yet I feel pretty excited. I'm in the phase of nesting in a sense, as I'm trying to get projects done and all the stuff that is needed for baby and postpartum care. I'll try to post a recent pic of the belly soon :)

I had a wonderful baby shower put on for me by two of my friends who are just as pregnant as me. We had a great time just relaxing and enjoying good food at a park. My last shower (for Noah) had about 50(?) people and was crazy! I definitely enjoy a smaller crowd. Here are a few pics from that day. Oh yes, and that is a sign that says "Do Not Touch" on my belly, only because I had a bad accident and got a 2nd degree burn just a few hours before the shower (just in case you were wondering).

Yep, that's me! With Noah in the background wondering what I'm doing :) This pregnancy is going well! I am a lot bigger than I was with Noah so I'm already experiencing a lot of the pregnancy woes. Good thing it doesn't last long and the outcome is such a blessing! Our little mister in the womb is due on July 22nd so I have a little ways left to go!

We have moved!

We have moved into a new, more spacious place in Ashland. It's actually just a half a mile from where we lived before. It has already been a huge blessing to us as we have had friends come and stay. We are having Luke's family here this weekend and are excited about that! One "drawback" is that we don't have internet, and probably aren't going to get it. So I will be blogging/facebooking/recipe searching/craigslist, etc. about once a week when I can get away by myself to a coffee house or somewhere with free wi-fi!

So we finally did it! Noah got his first haircut yesterday. We went to our friend Jan who does Luke's since she only charges a dollar for Noah. Noah did great as long as he was in his daddy's arms. His hair doesn't look that much different besides the back.... no more "party in the back" :)

A few weekends ago we were blessed to be able to go to the coast and visit Luke's family and celebrate papa Joe's 60th birthday!!! We also had a mini-reunion with Luke's brother Noel and his family. Noel has a cute daughter Naomi who is 2 days younger than Noah so it was fun watching them play together. There was even a sunny day or two! Kind of unheard of in March on the Oregon Coast :)

We found out on Tuesday that we are having a baby BOY!!!! I was a little surprised but am excited that Noah will have a little buddy to play with. This little guy might be a tad more crazy than our mellow firstborn. Our little peak into his world showed that he is quite active as he was moving around nonstop! Just a foreshadowing of what's to come. :) So yes, I am outnumbered.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while! Between the holidays and Noah and I being sick, I just haven't had the motivation to get on here at all. We stayed home this year for Christmas as Luke was in charge of our churches 29th (?) annual Christmas dinner that is served to the community. I think 8 or 900 were served this year! For New Years we went to a friends party and a lady from church and her daughter came to "watch" Noah (he was sleeping). I can't believe we stayed out till 12:30!! I'm getting to be sooo old! :) Anyways, I hope you all are doing well and that you are being blessed beyond measure!!

Early Christmas!

This weekend we had Christmas early with my mom and her husband Walt. My brother and his family were supposed to be there but had to cancel because their dog got sick. We missed them but still had a great time. Walt made us Beef Wellington (which is filet mignon covered in a puff pastry and gorgonzola cheese... VERY yummy!) and we enjoyed a very delicious dinner together! We opened presents and it was fun to see Noah start to get the hang of it. Noah went to bed and all the adults got to watch a movie. We ended up staying the night as it was most convenient (plus it was snowing!!). Thanks mom and Walt for a fun time!

"Ninja Class"

I started taking Noah to this gymnastics tumbling class a few weeks ago at the Y. It's a fun little class where the little kiddos can climb around all the equipment and play to their hearts content. I think Noah enjoys it and I love being able to get out of the house in the cold weather. When I first told Luke of wanting to go to this class, he said "only on the exception that you call it Ninja Class", so "Ninja Class" it is!!! :)

Thanksgiving Weekend

This Thanksgiving we were blessed to be able to go to Sunriver with Luke's family and stay about 5 days. We had a great time hanging out, riding bikes, going in the hot tub, playing apples to apples, watching Noah open his presents, and of course, eating great food! Oh yeah, and Luke went indoor surfing too!! It was a memorable time!

We had a birthday party for Noah tonight to celebrate him turning one tomorrow! What fun we had! It was so cute helping him open his presents while he mostly just ate the wrapping paper :)

We sang him happy birthday and gave him his own pumpkin muffin with a little bit of frosting on it (not as fun as a whole cake, I know). After eyeing it for a few minutes I broke it up into smaller pieces and then he stuffed his face! I Can't believe it's been a whole year!

In Labor

Last year on this very day, I was going through the hardest, most rigorous, most wonderful thing I have ever experienced! After 24 hours, no drugs, and an episiotomy, out came my beautiful son. What a gift from God!
We have a little calendar in our bathroom with beautiful quotes and scriptures about prayer and on November 23rd this is what it read:
"Labor at prayer! There is nothing thrilling about a laboring man's work, but is is the laboring man who makes the conceptions of the genius possible; and it is the laboring saint who makes the conception of his Master possible" Oswald Chambers

Growing

Some of you don't know that we have a tortoise as a pet. Yes, his name is David and he was a gift from Luke for my 24th birthday (a funny story), so we've had him for over 3 years.
In all this time, we have known he has grown but have never physically seen him grow.. until now. We woke up yesterday morning to find these black lines on David's shell.... new growth. Kind of neat, isn't it? No wonder he has been eating like crazy!

I love how at this age, Noah is pretty entertained by simple things. Last night I made a fort for him to crawl around in.... it was evidence by his delightful screams that he LOVED it!

What we've been up to

Although fall is my favorite season, it also seems to be one of the busiest. Thus I have neglected catching you all up on what is happening with us.
Lets start with Luke.....
Luke started playing soccer this fall with an adult league here in Ashland. He made it through about 4 games before he hurt his quad muscle! We had fun going down to the field on Monday nights and watching him. He was planning on doing the 1st Annual Ashland Marathon in November but didn't get proper training due to his injury, but I'm sure he'll do it next year!

He also started the college ministry on Tuesday nights instead of Friday's and has limited the people who go to those who are specifically college students, so they can have a group of their own. He teaches a Monday noon study at SOU as well, which is a great time for the students to come and be refreshed in the Lord.
On top of that he has also started a "third Sunday service" which is on Saturday nights at our church. The Lord is truly blessing these ministries and continuing the good work which he began in Luke! I stand amazed at the love and obedience he has for God!

Luke is also an amazing daddy and Noah is just absolutely attached to him as soon as he walks in the door. They are funny, those two.....

On to Noah.......

This boy is such a joy to our hearts!!! I honestly don't go a day without thanking the Lord for him, he is such a blessing and brings so much joy to our lives!

These last few weeks for him have brought exciting changes. He began to walk last week and decided to take 5 whole steps his first crack at it. Just yesterday Luke finally got to see him take some steps (8). I never realized how exciting it could be watching him grow and learn new things!

On top of that, he is dancing, singing, clapping, and learning simple commands like "go get your baby". A note about that; we do not let him play with dolls, but yesterday Luke gave him this little baby (actually a little rubber figure of what a baby looks like in utero at 12 weeks). Noah instantly loved this thing and started sucking on its head. Luke took him on a walk and brought it with him and someone commented "he is sucking on a fetus"! I'm sure it looked weird!
Anyways later that day, Luke told Noah "go get your baby" and Noah crawled right into the living room and came back into the kitchen holding it in his hand! We were ecstatic :) .

As for me.....I've been busy being a mommy!!! And a wife!!!!! :)
I can't think of anything too interesting to say! I'm finally going to cut my LONG hair (it's driving me nuts) as Noah tends to get his fingers caught in it.
Some of you know that I play guitar, and I have been asked to lead worship next month for a ladies seminar at our church. It's been a long time, so I'm starting to practice and get some callouses again.
Other than that, I'm looking forward to spending some time with family during the holidays and have been planning a birthday party for a little boy who will turn one next month!

We took Noah to the pumpkin patch last weekend. It was so cute to put him in a big pile of pumpkins and take pictures. We also went on a hay ride and there were animals to pet and look at (Noah was kind of freaked out by them, especially the bunny). Here are a few pics!

This Labor Day Weekend was special because my brother and his wife and their kids came to visit from Bend. I hadn't even seen Mary yet, who is now 4 1/2 months old! She is an absolute sweetie. And Malachi is now 1 1/2 and quite the toddler. He like to play "tackle" with Elijah and they run around with the football and tackle each other :) . We had a great time catching up with them and having delicious meals out at my mom's house compliments of Walt. We wish we could see them more often!!!!!

We headed up to Newport for a couple days to hang out with the family. It was absolutely beautiful weather for the Oregon Coast!

Then we headed to Alsea, Oregon to go to Casey & Leah's wedding. Casey is Luke's homeboy from high school.

Back in Ashland on Sunday we celebrated my 27th birthday by going out to Pasta Piatti. I had some yummy shrimp pesto linguine and for desert, Tiramisu of course! Is it just me, or does 27 sound...so, grown up? I realize I AM grown up, but somewhere inside I always feel about 16 :).

Noah and I just got back from a 4 day trip to Washington (state) to see my family. My cousin Nicole who I spent the summers with as a kid, came up from Utah as well as my cousin Tone and his wife Jennie. My grandma and great grandma live up there along with lots of aunts and uncles. We flew up on Thursday and my mom flew up on Friday. We had a great time just hanging out and catching up with everyone. They all got to meet Noah for the first time and I got to meet Nicole's kids and Tone's wife and kids. The trip felt way too short but I am thankful that I got to see everyone and have time together! It's too bad we don't all live closer, but I am hearing rumors of a Newell family reunion starting next year! Even though I brought a camera, I did not take a single picture so I'll post as soon as someone emails me some :) .

He made it!

Yesterday Luke ran the countries 3rd most vertical gain mountain race (5700 vertical feet). The picture I took above is the view from our house looking at Mount Ashland (the red arrow). The race started downtown in the park and went all the way to the very tippy top of Mt. A. This was his second time doing this yearly race here in Ashland. Besides getting some really intense leg cramps he came in 41st place out of 250!! Great job honey!!!

My honey is gone for 8 days teaching at a camp in New York! When the trip was first scheduled we considered Noah and I going along, but then my mom's husband Walt, being from New York himself, said it would be really hot and humid in July. That was the deciding factor for me :) .
So Noah and I have been spending our time over at my mom's house for a few nights and then tomorrow my sis-in-law Erin and nieces Olivia and Mallory are coming to stay for three nights. As much fun as its been and going to be, I sure do miss you Luke! Being apart causes me to appreciate you and all that you do!

4th of July Weekend

We had a fun and eventful 4th this year as we headed up to Newport (Luke's hometown) and stayed with his parents for about 5 days. Luke officiated a wedding for our friends Eddie and Katey on Saturday. It was a beautiful wedding on the beach with a fun reception to follow. On the 4th Luke was busy with all kinds of wedding stuff while I hung out with his family and we had a bonfire and roasted hot dogs and made smores. They went off to watch fireworks on the bayfront while Noah and I went to bed.... maybe we'll watch them next year! We had a great time with the fam and always look forward to hanging out with them. Today after church (and a nap) we walked down to Lithia Park where Noah went on the swing for the first time, which was so cute. He seemed to like it and would laugh as we would put our faces right in front of him. He is also sitting up really well by himself as of the last week or so (my word they grow fast!) Such a nice day today... we're so happy summer is here!

Noah has been saying "ma ma" since he was like three months old, even though he doesn't really know what it means yet. So I've been working with Noah on saying "da da" before fathers day and lo and behold, at 7:25 this morning from his bassinet he belts out "da da!" Luckily the monitor was on and Luke was downstairs so he heard it! Such a cute boy!

There are so many reasons why I love you Luke. You continually give of yourself without mention and you work hard to take care of Noah and I. You have a heart for God and a love for people. You love me without reservation! You bring constant joy to my life. You are my best friend and there is no one else in the world I'd rather be with. I love spending every moment with you! I'm so thankful that God brought us together.... you are my soul mate, brought together to bring Him glory as he fashions us to be more like Himself. I love being on this journey called life, right by your side! Noah had his first experience eating solids on Wednesday! I baked a sweet potato for him and added some breast milk. He seemed to love it! As you can see in the last picture he's kind of wondering where the rest of the food is, like he wants more. I'm having fun making his food and feeding it to him .... this is only the beggining!

This list won't be too extensive since Noah is only 6 month old, but here are 8 things about our Nobi J:

1. Noah loves to be tickled, but not with your hands, only with your teeth!

2. Noah has slept throught the night since he was 7 weeks old and sleeps about 9 to 10 hours at night now..... we are so blessed!

3. When Noah was born, he had the cord wrapped around his neck and he was grabbing it with his hand. Once the Dr unwrapped the cord and took it from his grasp, he reached out and grabbed it back :)

4. Noah has his own gmail account! It is: noahfrechette@gmail.com. He likes to email his grandma and grandpa from time to time :)

5. Noah has a really big toe! He has hobbit feet just like his daddy :)

6. Noah loves his jumperoo and when he get's really excited, he jumps with two feet instead of one and he really gets some air :)

7. Noah doesn't know it yet but he's going to like soccer (according to me), wrestling (according to his daddy), and snowboarding :)

8. Noah likes it when I read to him. He will actually sit and listen and watch as I turn the pages!

Memorial Day

We had an eventful memorial day weekend. Our friends Bo and Andria came down to visit and celebrate their 5th anniversary, so we hung out with them and had a good time.
Luke had the day off yesterday and so he worked on the back yard a bit and extended our fence. I'll show more of the back yard later.
Noah woke up from his nap with a mark on his arm which had me cringing because I'm pretty sure it is a spider bite (yuck). Earlier that day I was putting him down for his nap and thought I felt a spider crawl on my back, but searched tirelessly to no avail (when I see a spider in the house, it must die as soon as possible!). Luckily the bite wasn't serious, although it had me worried.
Last night my mom was gracious enough to come over in the evening, even though she had to be to work early today, to watch (and play with) Noah while Luke and I had our first real date since Noah was born. We went and saw Indiana Jones and had a good time. About a half hour into the movie we started saying to each other, "I wonder what Noah is doing?". I knew he was in good hands, but I was anxious to get home as soon as the movie ended. I always heard those stories from other moms, about their first time away from their baby and how they couldn't fully enjoy whatever it is they were doing, now I can relate! Nonetheless, it was nice going on a date with my man! Thanks Mom!

We just got back from Hawaii last night after a ten day stay and we had a wonderful time! We stayed on the Big Island with a friend of a friend who had a guest house and they also gave us a jeep to drive around in. Their place was up in the mountains a bit which was nice and cool, very tropical and lush. It was great to go there after a hot day at the beach! While there we hung out with friends, Luke went surfing, I celebrated my first mothers day :) and we celebrated Luke's 30th birthday!!! Noah did really well on the plane and had everyone laughing! We are in Portland right now with Luke's family and we'll be headed home to A-town tomorrow, so I'll be posting some pics as soon as I can.

Elijah & Toni had their baby girl this morning at 7:50 am! Her name is Mary Eleanor Myers and she was a whopping 8lbs 6oz! I don't know what her length is yet. Elijah said that Toni is doing well.... it sounds like they went in to the hospital at 1:30am.

2 Great Products

There are a couple of really great products I've found in the last month that I thought I'd share about.
The first one is Grapefruit Seed Extract. This stuff is awesome! Not only does it successfully eliminate thrush, but there are like 20 other things that you can do with it (i.e. all purpose cleaner, throat gargle, nail treatment ..... ). The brand is Nutribiotic and you can find it at any health food store.
The second product is Weleda Calendula Baby Cream. This stuff has worked wonders for Noah's eczema. It also works great for cuts or scratches (it healed Noah's scratches on his head within 2 days ..... I seriously clip his fingernails everyday!).

I am always stoked to find natural remedies (that work) instead of automatically taking medicine just because the doctor recommends it.

Talk about a gorgeous day! It's 72 degrees down here in Southern Oregon and we are lovin' it. We went for a little stroll today and you know how it goes with your first baby, every moment is a photo op!

With spring in the air there is a sense of newness that comes with it and I am reminded of how we have become new creatures in Christ, how all the old things have passed away. Each day is new and fresh!!

Noah's First Road Trip

We just got back yesterday from a trip to Newport to see Luke's family. They hadn't seen Noah since he was four weeks old so it was about time we went up to see them. We had a great time and even got to take Noah to the beach for a quick photo op. His first road trip went well as he slept most the time. It was a good precursor to our trip next month to Hawaii :)

Today Noah had his 4 month shots (poor baby) and the results are in for his weight and length. He is 25 inches long (50th %) and 13 lbs 5oz (25th%). Oh yeah, and his head is 17 inches around! That means his head is in the 75th percentile! Big Head! I wonder where he gets it from? :)

Here is a recent pic of Nobi J (mostly for the grandmas and auntie Erin). He has to wear a hat right now because he itches his head so bad that he makes himself bleed... poor guy! I am constantly amazed at God's handiwork as I watch him grow and learn new things each day (to think he started out smaller than a grain of sugar!). Being a mommy....what a wonderfully exciting journey!

Race Day

Luke decided to participate in a small race in Ashland on Saturday called "Tar N Trail". You see, he is the type that can decide to do such a thing on a very short notice and not be phased at all as he was 35th place out of 130 or so (good job honey!). Last year he participated in a marathon, an ultra-marathon (32 miles in the mountains), a duathalon, a triathalon, and several other smaller races. I must say his ambition inspires me! This year he is taking it down a few notches and is only going to do a few smaller races.... this was one of them.
